Each card shows title, publisher, date, related ticker tags, optional keywords, and a per-symbol sentiment label when insights are available. Then scroll the main column to compare Congressional trades and Insider / Form 4 trades for the same window. Use peers above headlines when the story names a supplier or competitor you do not follow yet.

What each headline card shows
ProBors normalizes third-party news into a consistent card layout:
- Title link — opens the publisher article in a new browser tab
- Description — short excerpt when the source provides one
- Meta line — author, publisher, and published date in plain language
- Related ticker tags — symbols mentioned in the story; the active ticker is highlighted
- Keywords — topic chips when available (earnings, regulation, M&A, and similar themes)
- Sentiment pill — positive, neutral, or negative for the active ticker when an insight exists, plus optional reasoning text
Sentiment is a triage hint for the symbol you are viewing—not a trade signal and not a substitute for reading the article or the underlying filing.
If no headlines load, check data status for market or news feed health before assuming the ticker is unsupported.
Step 1: Load the ticker you are researching
Start from any path that lands on Market workspace:
- Type a symbol in the Market ticker search strip
- Use global search and pick a ticker result
- Click a peer chip or headline tag to switch symbols
- Open Market from a congress or whale row via the context menu
Confirm the quote strip shows the company you intend. Headlines and sentiment labels are scoped to the active ticker even when a story mentions several symbols.
Step 2: Scan peers before you read the news
The Peers block above headlines lists related symbols—often same-sector names or index peers. Use it when:
- A headline names a competitor you do not track
- You want to see whether disclosure activity clusters across a group
- You are comparing two tickers after a sector-wide event
Clicking a peer reloads the entire workspace: quote, chart, congress table, insider table, and a fresh headline list for the new symbol.
Step 3: Read headlines for context, not conclusions
Work through headlines with disclosure discipline:
- Skim titles and dates for the narrative window (earnings week, policy news, product launch)
- Open one or two primary sources externally—ProBors links out; it does not replace the publisher
- Note related ticker tags when the story spans a supply chain
- Treat sentiment pills as quick orientation; read reasoning text when shown
- Ignore sentiment that feels mismatched until you verify the article body
News can move prices before any STOCK Act or Form 4 row becomes public. A negative headline does not mean insiders sold yesterday, and a positive headline does not prove a politician bought ahead of the story.
Step 4: Cross-check disclosure tables on the same page
Scroll the main column after headlines:
Congressional trades — sort mentally by traded date and filed date. Ask whether any member’s transaction window overlaps the headline dates. Open a row to launch the disclosure context window for filing lag, amount brackets, and chart focus.

Price & disclosures chart — toggle congress and insider markers to see whether disclosed activity lines up with the news window on a timeline. Markers plot on transaction dates where available; filing lag still applies.

- Use Full chart when the question is timing across months, not just the latest headline

- Treating sentiment as insider knowledge — Sentiment summarizes public articles; it is not a leak detector.
- Ignoring filing lag — A story on Monday may relate to a congress row filed two weeks later.
- Skipping the external article — Tags and excerpts can miss nuance; read the source for policy or earnings detail.
- Forgetting bracket amounts — Congressional dollars are ranges, not exact trade sizes.
- Chasing every headline — Liquid mega-caps generate constant news; pair headlines with signal scores or amount filters when the feed is noisy.
What headlines plus disclosures do not prove
- Not causal proof — A filing near a headline does not mean the politician or insider reacted to that story.

Headlines refresh when you load or change tickers in Market workspace. They are not a live wire service; use publisher sites for breaking news.
Why does sentiment differ from the article tone?
Sentiment is computed per active ticker in a multi-company story. A broadly negative sector piece might show neutral for one symbol if the insight model weights that name differently.
Can I filter headlines by date or keyword?
The workspace headlines list is curated for the active symbol without a separate filter bar. Use Chat or the Trades tab for date-bounded disclosure scans; use external search for publisher archives.
Where do headline links go?
Title links open the original publisher URL in a new tab. ProBors does not host full article bodies in the headlines rail.
What if Headlines shows “No headlines”?
Thin coverage can happen on very small issuers or during data outages. Check data status and continue with disclosure tables—they do not depend on the news feed.
